About Me

Hi, I'm Rhiannon and I am the founder of My Yogi Bairns - A children's yoga class based in Berwick-Upon-Tweed and now expanding into Kirkcaldy, Fife.

I have been an avid yogi for the last 7 years, and became a trained children's yoga teacher in 2018. I have always loved the benefits of the mind and body experiences gained through a yoga class and I love being able to introduce children to these benefits at a much younger age.

Currently I am studying Counselling and hope to expand my business to help as many children and young adults as I can with their mental health. I am also working through my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training to expand my knowledge and continue down this path in hope that I can help as many families as possible find their inner calm and happiness.

Hi friends 🌸 How are you all doing?

I’ve been a little quiet recently—taking some time off over the Easter holidays to “sort my life out” 🤣 Honestly, I don’t know what I was thinking… running a business, moving a business and studying all at once seemed like a good idea at the time, but hey, here we are 🤪

I hope you’re enjoying the Easter break 🐣 Mine’s been lovely so far—a couple of baby showers, some holiday workshops at Spittal Day Nursery and Choice for Growth (which were so lovely!), a bit of crochet practice, and making an attempt at my mountain of homework 🙃☺️ It’s all go go go!

If you’re waiting on a message from me, feel free to give me a wee nudge. And if I’ve missed anything, I promise I’ll get back to you real soon 🫶🏻

Let’s face it —life’s a lot for us, so imagine how much it can feel like a lot for little brains still figuring everything out.

Teaching kids how to slow down, breathe, and check in with themselves is a total game-changer, especially when it comes to those moments where we really need it ✨

Meditation doesn’t have to look like sitting cross-legged in silence for 20 minutes (thank goodness) it can actually be a fun, easy activity for the whole family 🫶🏻

Here are 5 super doable, low-pressure ways to bring meditation into your kiddo’s world:

1. Start tiny. Like 1-minute tiny. Think “let’s breathe together before breakfast” kinda tiny ⏳

2. Use their imagination. Clouds, magic carpets, floating in space—make it fun! One of my favourites it exploring rainbow-land.🌈

3. Turn it into a game. Who can hear the most sounds in 30 seconds? Mindful listening for the win👂

4. Be their role model. If they see you doing it, they’ll be curious (and copy you, of course).🧘🏽‍♂️🧘🏼‍♀️

5. No pressure. It’s not about being still and silent—it’s about creating a calm moment together 😌

Honestly, it’s less about doing it perfectly and more about just making space for it.

This here is our lovely Nicole, who has been coming along to yoga with me since 2019 (Scroll to see teeny Nicole 🥰). She has been, and continues to be, an absolute joy to have in class. I have loved watching her form strong friendships within the class, grow in confidence—but most of all, I have loved watching her become a wonderfully kind young girl.

I wanted to take a moment to give her a special shout out because Nicole is now joining MYB on our Tuesday sessions as a volunteer whilst she completes her Duke of Edinburgh award. She’s been coming along for a couple of weeks now, and the children are loving having her in class. She has already been such a great help! Nicole will be with our Tuesday group for the next few months, and I wanted to introduce her to you all.

Parents, if you see Nicole around, feel free to say hello! We know she’s going to do an amazing job supporting our little yogis.

Big feelings can be overwhelming for little ones, but teaching mindful breathing early can make a world of difference!

The Hoberman Sphere (aka the “breathing ball”) is a fun, visual way to help kids slow down and self-regulate. As they open the ball, they take a deep breath in… and as they close it, they slowly breathe out.

✨ Try this when your child is:
✔ Feeling frustrated or overwhelmed
✔ Having trouble winding down
✔ Needing a moment of calm

Breathing together can help strengthen your bond while building lifelong emotional skills. 💛

When it’s your birthday week at yoga - YOU are the main event 🥳💗

I wish more people knew that meditation is not about stopping your thoughts but changing your relationship with them. It’s a powerful tool for all ages—especially for children! ✨

Most people think meditation is just about sitting still—but for kids, it’s so much more than that. It helps them regulate emotions, improve focus, and build resilience. And the best part? It can be simple, fun, and engaging.

One of my favorite techniques to teach kids is finger-tapping meditation. We gently tap each finger to the thumb while saying:
✨ Peace (index finger)
✨ Begins (middle finger)
✨ With (ring finger)
✨ Me (pinky finger)

This rhythmic movement, combined with a calming mantra, helps children settle their minds and bodies. It’s easy to practice anywhere—at home, in school, or even before bed!

And here’s the thing: meditation isn’t just for kids. Studies show that it helps reduce cortisol (the stress hormone) and strengthens the prefrontal cortex—the part of the brain responsible for emotional regulation, focus, and decision-making. When families practice together, they create a shared sense of calm and connection.

Even starting with one deep breath together in the morning or before bedtime can make a difference.

In our kids yoga classes, we like to make movement fun, engaging, and full of imagination! The Shark Game is a playful way to practice yoga poses while building strength, focus, and super quick reflexes.

🌊 The kids start in Fish Pose… but when the shark (👀 aka the teacher or friend) comes near, they quickly switch to Boat Pose to stay safe! 🚣‍♂️

Not only does this game bring laughter and excitement, but it also helps with balance, core strength, and body awareness. ✨

Hey everyone! It’s time for a little reintroduction.

If you’re new here—or if we haven’t connected in a while—welcome! I’m Rhiannon, the owner, coach, cleaner, content creator, administrator, lesson planner (the list could go on, but I’ll stop there 🤣) of My Yogi Bairns.

A little about me:

✨ I started MYB when I was 24 years old. Yoga has had such a powerful impact on my mood and energy that I only wish I had discovered it earlier in life. The more I learn, the deeper my “why” behind this business grows. I’m incredibly passionate about children’s well-being and mental health, so much so that at 30, I’ve gone back to university to study Psychotherapeutic Counseling alongside running MYB.

✨ At 23, after graduating, I traveled solo around Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand—something I had always dreamed of. Looking back, I sometimes wonder how I found the courage, but it reminds me how powerful we truly are. My motto? Feel the fear and do it anyway. Nothing grows in a comfort zone, after all.

✨ My Yogi Bairns offers children’s yoga classes in schools as part of their curriculum, after-school clubs, holiday workshops, and parties. We help kids build confidence and resilience while promoting a healthy, balanced life.
I’m so grateful for this community. Watching children grow in confidence each week is truly magical.

Well, another year over and another fantastic year of yoga 💕

A huge thank you to all of the wonderful schools and nurseries I have had the privilege to teach at this year.

I want to do a BIG SHOUT OUT to Spittal and Belford First School for having me in every single week. It’s such a joy to be a part of your schools and get to know all of the amazing children there. Watching the children grow in confidence each week is an absolute highlight, I can’t thank the schools and their amazing staff enough - the children are very very lucky🍀💕

Another big shout out to the wonderful parents and children who have attended yoga this year and every year really - so many of you have been with me for so long now and it isn’t lost on me how special that is 🥰 the support, the friendships both with parents and children is so special to me and I truly appreciate every single one of you.

Oh, how I love this story 🥹

Last week, we focused our yoga classes on The Polar Express 🚂
 It felt so magical—I absolutely loved taking this journey with the children.
We rode our train to the North Pole, skated across icy landscapes, and traveled through the mountains, past snow-covered Christmas trees, all the way to meet Santa 🎅🏼.

Santa gifted us a magical, invisible bell. When we closed our eyes and gave our clasped hands a little shake, we could hear the bells ringing 🥹. If we could hear them, it meant we truly believed in Santa—and he believes in us too 💕.

The Polar Express is a story about the magic of kindness, the power of believing, and the joy of the holiday season. Sharing it with the children was such a heartwarming experience.

I hear this phrase all the time—not just from my students, but sometimes even from myself. Doubt is natural; we all experience it. But what truly matters is having someone in your corner to remind you just how capable you are, even when you forget. Encouragement, belief, and a little positivity can make all the difference when facing challenges.

After a quick pep talk, just look at her! That proud smile says it all. She did it! The whole class erupted in cheers and claps, celebrating her achievement. Moments like these are what make this community so special 🥹

This is the kind of girlhood I wish I had growing up—pure support, zero negativity, and a space where girls lift each other up. Our Thursday yoga class is more than just a class; it’s a little hub of growth, empowerment, and sisterhood. I’m so lucky to witness these incredible young girls blossom into strong, confident women. 💜👏

Not only does this pose give a great stretch, but it’s also a confidence booster. Our young experts show us that bending backwards isn’t so scary after all—it’s actually a lot of fun!

Week 3’s Wellness Workshop 🐾

I always love a craft like this because it looks absolutely amazing and something to be so proud of considering it’s your own lovable family pet 🥰

And the best thing about it, is that it’s really not that hard 💕

When I first told the girls what we were going to do and how we would do it, the room was full of “I can’t’s” …. Now that’s not something I ever agree with and the gals know it 🤣 we had a quick chat and I reminded them how capable they were of anything they set their minds to and just look at what they all managed to achieve 🤩

I would GLADLY have any one of those portraits on my wall, I think they’re so SO good!

Wellness Workshop Number 2 of the summer ☀️

We made some Worry Monsters and their very own homes to live in 🧌🎨 We talked about our worries and how a worry shared is a worry halved 💫

This class honestly felt so relaxing to me, the kids were so engrossed in their craft and the creativity in the room was such a joy to watch 🥰 It’s days like this that I live for.

Screen free, creative juices flowing, excited smiles, laughter and connection - all a sign of a happy, safe environment 💫

Thank you all so much for joining this class, I hope those monsters are helping take care of those worries 😌
